Pipe Lining in Boise – A Less Invasive Plumbing Repair

Over time, your home’s plumbing will begin to develop cracks. These cracks will cause a wide variety of problems. Tree roots may penetrate your aging pipes causing them to frequently clog. This is just one scenario you are likely to face when dealing with aging pipes.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR CRACKED PLUMBING?

Traditional plumbing techniques require those pipes to eventually be removed and replaced with newer, tougher materials. As you might imagine, this can be devastating for your property. Depending on where in Boise you live, these pipes could run beneath your home, including your basement. The more time a plumber spends working on a project, the more the final cost will be. Not to mention the work that remains once the plumbing is replaced. New landscaping and concrete repair add to an already skyrocketing bill!

PIPE LINING WITH TRENCHLESS PLUMBING IS THE ANSWER

Five Star Service Pro’s trenchless plumbing means we have far less digging to do. This means far less destruction and less time spent on a job. We use our trenchless tools to install new pipe lining. What is pipe lining? It is a tube inserted into the cracked portion of the affected pipe that contains a self-hardening resin. This resin is extremely durable and sets up in just a few hours. It essentially replaces the damaged pipe by lining the interior with this new material. The new pipe lining has an engineered life expectancy of roughly 100 years. This means that under normal circumstances, that pipe will no longer give you any problems!

HOW WE INSTALL A NEW PIPE LINING IN BOISE

After we use our trenchless plumbing tools and video camera inspection techniques, we isolate the problem area. Once we have identified the portion of the plumbing that needs to be repaired, we start by removing all debris using a high-power water jet. Once the area is cleared of all problems, we prepare the resin compound and tube for installation. Our licensed plumbers will pull the prepared lining into place and inflate an inner air tube to expand the new pipe lining. We then allow the resin to harden per the manufacturer’s guidance (usually 2-4 hours). After we are satisfied that the pipe lining is fully cured, we do a final inspection to make sure all of the cracks have been repaired by once again using our video camera inspection tools.

PIPE LINING FAQs

Q: Is the new pipe lining as strong as the original pipe?

A: In many cases, it is stronger than the original piping. You can rest easy knowing that the lining material we use is industry standard and will provide you with decades of use.

Q: Can any type of pipe material be lined using this process?

A: As plumbers, we never know what we will find once we arrive on a job site. With that in mind, pipe lining can be used on clay pipes, cast iron pipes, all types of sewer pipes and most sizes. That covers nearly all of the residential and commercial possibilities.

Q: Does this impact the flow of water through my pipes?

A: The new lining only reduces the internal diameter by roughly 5%. That means you will experience no discernible differences in water flow.

Q: Will you have to line the entire damaged pipe?

A: No. The real beauty of this process is that we only must repair the impacted portion, or portions, of a pipe. That means a significant cost savings for you!

Q: How much does pipe lining cost?

A: Like all service work, it depends on the size of the problem. The actual lining is priced per linear foot, so it depends on how much your pipes are damaged. It also depends on where they are located and how difficult it is for our team to get to.

WHY CHOOSE PIPE LINING VERSUS REGULAR PIPE REPLACEMENT?

While we believe there are many reasons to choose pipe lining, the biggest and most significant reason most of our customers cite is cost. The cost savings are significant. The time savings alone means you save big money by relining a pipe versus replacing it. Reducing the damage to your yard and home comes in a close second. We are often thanked for taking care of such a big issue without “destroying our home”.
